Feb 10, 2013
I pine for the kind of time you can only get on a rainy Sunday afternoon. And then I piss it away when I finally get the chance to sit down and work on my current novel. Just. Finish. It!
I try to keep the distractions to a minimum. Close the browser unless radioparadise.com is streaming, then for sure, close Facebook. Damn. You. Facebook!
I try not to check email, rearrange my desk, text my sister, talk on the phone too long, even bathroom breaks are kept to a minimum because oh how I could totally organize my cosmetics or try out a new face cream. It all takes away from the goal. Write. That. Scene!
Even now as I type this brief blog, calling myself out on the fact that I have been waiting all weekend to get back to the tumultuous events my poor heroine is currently facing, the bitch is just gonna have to sit on that plane for a few more minutes in this scene while I procrastinate.
Should I ever be able to quit my job and write full-time, I think I'll have find a place to write outside of the house. I don't know how people can "work at home". Too many opportunities for diversions. That's why NaNoWriMo worked so well. I had a deadline. I need to make myself a deadline. Right. Now!
Here we go: By the end of February I will finish the first draft of this novel.
I am currently at 86,000 words. I hope to make it 100,000 by the end of the story. Then March will consist of editing. And by April, I hope to release the first chapter here on my website. That will be my birthday gift to myself.
Well, that and hopefully another tattoo. LOL!
